KC Track Meet

The girls had their last indoor track meet in Kansas City. They each had a great day getting to one of their goals. Elizabeth has been wanting to break a 6 minute mile. She ran a 5:58.71 and finished first in the 13/14 year olds. Kate broke 2:40 in the 800 and ran a 2:39.18. She finished 2nd. Anna had a little PR in the 400 by 0.05 of a second and finished 4th (1:06.75). They all ran the 3000m. The track is a 350 meter track so it was hard to track how fast they were running. Elizabeth was pretty tired from her fast mile and ran a 13:18.96 which is about 50 seconds from her PR. Kate didn't have much rest from her 800 and fell during the 3000m but got up quick. She was a second from her PR (12:14.64). Anna had a goal to run 11:35 and she ran 11:34.38. She finished first, Kate was second and Elizabeth was third (but there were only 3 in the 13/14 year age group). It was a good way to end the indoor season.

Ice and a Little Snow

We got a little ice and snow over a few days which closed everything down (including school--time for AMI) Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

 

Mardi Gras Parade

The school has always done a Mardi Gras parade. All the kids get cupcakes and there is a queen and king in each class to lead the parade. Elizabeth got it this year and she was so embarrassed she had to lead her class!

 

FL for John and Jack

John and Jack spent the weekend in Flordia with John and Mary at the condo. They enjoyed the weather and playing golf.

Topeka Super Meet

 The girls ran in an indoor track meet in Topeka, KS. They all did the long jump. Kate set a new PR with 12-4 and Elizabeth and Anna have never jumped before. They jumped 11.8" and 11.6". Kate finished 5th. They all ran the 1500m and set new PRs. Anna finished 4th with a time of 5:24:01. Kate finished 5th with 5:39.06 and Elizabeth finished 7th with a 5:47.98. They all ran the 400. Anna and Kate set new PRs, and Elizabeth was less than a 1/2 second from hers. Anna finished 2nd with a time of 1:06.8, Kate was third (she was thrilled to earn a medal!) with a time of 1:06.88. She was in a different heat from Anna! Elizabeth finished with a 1:14.44. Anna won the 800m. She had a big goal to beat her friend, Gabbie that wins all the cross country races. She passed her with 100m left and ran a big PR by 8 seconds, 2:34.7. Kate ran 2:45.97 and Elizabeth ran 2:49.72.
