Boston Marathon Race Day

Boy, what a day! The weather was perfect, mid 40s the entire race, cloud cover, and a tailwind all the way into Boston! Beth and I got up early--5am, ate some breakfast, went to drop off our gear check bags, walked to the Commons to catch our bus at 8am...waited 30 minutes to get on the bus. Drove to Hopkinton (60 minutes!), made it to the athletes village with 20 minutes before our wave started. Waited in line for a bathroom (saw a dead mouse!), walked to the start line--about a mile to get to the corral with about 10 minutes before the start of the race (10:41). I felt ready to run but about 1.6 miles into the race I have a cramp in my left hamstring that freaked me out. I ran through it and was nervous it would come back, but it didn't. It was just really sore the entire race. I kept my pace the entire race and actually negative split the second half which is crazy because the Boston course is really hilly the second half. I ended up with a course PR, and my second fastest marathon ever. After the race, we showered, relaxed, then met up with some friends for dinner at Legal Seafood.

I saw some friends at mile 25.2!
