PeePaw Came to Visit

Oh my the kids were so excited to see him! Thursday night, PeePaw watched the girls' gymnastics practice and after, we went to get snow cones. PeePaw took Jack to his golf match on Friday morning. Jack did well, shooting a 17 (three holes). PeePaw said he had 12 putts, so he needs to work on his putting a little. He has one more match next Friday (5 holes). He is currently in 3rd place (tied) in his age group. It was so hot on Friday, so, instead of peach picking like we had planned, we went to High Rise in the afternoon. The kids ran around and jumped on the trampolines in the air conditioning. When we got back, they played in the pool for a while, then we went downtown for dinner and ice cream. PeePaw could not believe the price of ice cream cones downtown. When he went to pay, he had to ask the cashier if he rang up all the ice cream. Five cones for just over $5. We ate our ice cream and listening to music on the square before going home.

Saturday, the girls played their last soccer game. They won, 5-2. Elizabeth scored three goals and Kate scored one. They played very hard, and even though it was 8:30 in the morning, it was already 85 degrees. Good season girls! After the game, John, PeePaw and Jack played nine holes in the afternoon heat and then came back for some swimming. We then got cleaned up for church and went to a fried chicken place for dinner. It was an old home style cooking diner called Monte Ne Inn. All they served was family style all-you-can-eat fried chicken, corn, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, bean soup, fresh baked bread, and coleslaw. This place had no menus...just brought you the food. It was very good. PeePaw loved the chicken. The best part was the girls ate free (under 5) so it was a great deal too.
