HCAA Track Meet and Elizabeth's First Jr. PGA

Jack had his last jr. high track meet today and last time competing for St. Vincent. It was a beautiful sunny day and there were quite a few teams from the HCAA conference that attended. It was a high school and middle school meet, so it was a long meet! Because a few of the girls were not able to compete, the coach let Anna, Kate and Elizabeth run in it too even though they are only 6th grade. Jack ran the 800 (2:33, finished 3rd) and mile (5:44, finished 4th). Neither were PRs but within seconds of them. He is a consistent runner. Anna ran the mile and her goal was to run it under 6 minutes. She was right at 5:56:00. She finished second behind Gabbie, the girl from Providence that has beat her in the last few track meets (she keeps getting faster. Anna says it is because it is from her pushing her) and also beat her in the conference CC meet last fall. Anna has some big goals for sure. She finished second in the 800 (2:41) and again, Gabbie beat her with her own PR. Anna took off about six seconds from her last 800. Kate did the high jump and finished 10th (11-4.25), 4x100 (finished 3rd), 100 (8th 14.31 a PR) and 200 (4th 29.28 a PR). Elizabeth was supposed to run the 800 and 400 but had to leave because she had to play in a Jr. PGA match in the afternoon. Her team won the match. She tied in match play.

Kate told me she thought she was flying during the 200. After the race, the girl in blue told her good job little girl. I didn't know you could run that fast. She won her heat.
