Butler Unofficial/Western Kentucky Official Visit
We drove to Butler early Monday morning and did a quick visit with the Butler coach. She showed us the facilities and we did a tour of the track and campus. After the visit, we continued to drive down to Western Kentucky for an official visit. We met the coach with another girl from Arkansas, Lauren who is very sweet. The girls toured the campus, met with the academic advisor, took pictures in uniforms, and had dinner with the coach before heading to the hotel. The next morning, we met again with the coach for breakfast. It was a nice visit and the girls liked the campus and the coach. We will see what they decide to do.

New Balance Nationals Outdoor
The girls and I left bright and early Wednesday morning for Philadelphia for nationals. We arrived around 11am and went directly to the track to pick up packet and do a quick shakeout run. Then we went to the Reading Terminal marketplace for lunch. It was so busy because the World Cup had a game scheduled there for Friday night--Brazil and Haiti. We got philly cheesesteak and chicken sandwiches that were so good. Then we headed back to the hotel. We ran into traffic on the way to the hotel but made it there and checked in. We were staying about 20 miles from the city because of all the people there for both events.
Thursday, Cindy arrived and we didn't do much in the morning because Elizabeth had the 2 mile race in the early afternoon. She ended up running an 11:01.53 (10:16.15 3k). It wasn't her best, but she ran a great race until about 600m left and then just ran out of gas. After her race, we walked to a cute little restaurant then headed back to the hotel.
Friday, we went to watch Toy Story 5 (so cute), then ate lunch. Cindy and I walked a bit and we saw a baby deer. We called and the animal shelter said to leave it alone that the moms come back to feed them. We headed back to the track for the mile race. Kate was in the first heat and was pushed to the back right from the start. she ran 5:09.30. Anna was in the next heat and she ran a smart race taking the lead around the 1k mark, She finished with a season best mile time of 4:58.21. Elizabeth ran a few heats later and ran a 5:01.42. The girls talked to a few coaches after the meet and Cindy and I went to the hotel to get a table. We ended up eating Ralph's Italian Restaurant. The girls ran their cooldown to the restaurant. We got Dairy Queen on the way home. It was a great experience but it was a long season of racing. We flew home the next day.
