Catch Up

Let's see, what has been going on at our house these last few weeks! It has been a busy time, which is probably why I haven't blogged too much. We sold our house a few weeks ago, which is good news for John since he has been working in Cleveland since early August. The closing date is set for Nov. 8th. After going under contract, I made a trip to Cleveland, visited three Catholic schools (all excellent), 15 houses on a Saturday to the suburbs west of the city. We loved Avon Lake. That Sunday, we looked south of the city and then went back up to the west side to look a few more houses. I think we looked at a total of 30 houses in two days. The weekend was good because we decided on the area of the city to live (Avon Lake) and the school/church (St. Joseph). St. Joseph is on Lake Rd., and sits facing Lake Erie. The setting couldn't be prettier.

I did a garage sale with my mom and sister last week with the help of my mother-in-law and dad to watch the girls. I wanted to get rid of some stuff before we move and did. The garage sale was totally worth the time.

I ran the Fort-for-Fitness half marathon this past Saturday and was pleased at how I did. I had one of those great days of running and felt so great that I just kept moving. I had negative splits and my last 5K was 8:12 min/pace, which is fast for me. I had a PR by about 5 minutes.

On Sunday, my mom, John's mom, John's aunt, Jack and I made a day trip to Avon Lake to see two of the houses we are most interested in buying. John and I always like to involve other people in our house-hunting and the extra opinions were very helpful. We actually looked at a third house that we liked the best and are hoping to put an offer in later this week. Ironically, this home is directly accross the street from our top house and we never looked at it until then. This moving stuff is tough. I will be glad when we are settled in to our new place...only to get busy for the holiday season!

Jack has been sick for about a week. Kate, I think, also has a touch of this illness, but it seems to have hit Jack pretty hard. He has been complaining of a stomach ache for about a week, has been febrile since last Friday night, was vomiting by Sunday night (last night) and today was very tired and lethargic. He was tested negative for strep on Saturday, so it must be a virus beating him down. I am hoping he is turning a corner and tomorrow will be a better day. On top of the vomiting, my dryer went out yesterday so the vomiting clean-up with interesting last night. Thankfully, today it was fixed and I got caught up on laundry.

So, we have a little bit of everything going on here.

That is all from the Scudder house for now--but seriously, I think that is enough.
