Math Facts

We are so proud of Elizabeth. She is one of two kids in her class to finish all her addition and subtraction math facts. There are 19 levels the first graders have to pass by the end of the year. Each level is 40 questions and the kids have to get all the problems right in under 3 minutes. We also saw the Honors and High honor list posted today from the first quarter and Elizabeth was only one of three first graders to have High Honors (all As). There were about ten students on the Honors list including Anna (all As and Bs). Not bad!

Jack was also on the High Honors list having all As for third grade. He has also finished all 49 levels of his math facts for the year which includes 19 levels of addition and subtraction (have to finish in under 1:30 in 3rd grade) and 30 levels of multiplication and division. He is one of two students to have completed all his levels. His teacher also stopped me one afternoon last week and told me he is at the highest level of accelerated math of all the 3rd graders. Accelerated math is new this year, and in 3rd grade, the students spend half of their math class on the chrome books working at their own speed. They take tests, have assigned homework on the computer and master objectives according to these measures. Jack is doing fractions and also learned to multiply 3 digit by 3 digit numbers.

It is a lot more work for the girls than Jack, but we are proud of all the kids and how hard they have worked in school this year.
