HCAA Track Championships

The boys and the girls both won the Conference Championships. Team earned 195 points and second place was 127. It was a hot day--mid 90s and windy--20 mph winds so it was not a day for PRs except in the jumps that had a tailwind! Kate won the triple jump with a foot PR (31-7), finished third in the 800 (2:41.14), third in the 1600m with the first time ever running it (6:02.12), and finished third in the 400 (1:05.51). Anna won the 400 (1:03.53), the 1600m (5:57.00), finished second in the 200m (27:56--this broke the school record, but her teammate finished in front of her by 0.14 seconds!), and finished 3rd in the high jump (4-3). Anna won high point--34 points. Elizabeth was second in the triple jump with a PR (30-7), second in the 1600m (5:57.77), first in the 800 (2:33.99), and 4th in the 400m (1:06.34). She was right behind Anna in points scored with 31 points. It was a great way to end their track season.

The 800m. Mary went in front of her on the second lap and she heard someone say, it's your last 100m of your last track meet at St. Joseph, and Elizabeth thought, I'm going to win my last race. She took off and beat her!

Kinley and Anna after the 200m. Anna needed about 5 more meters to beat Kinely!

Anna telling me she was hot in the 1600m. Elizabeth said this was the hardest mile she has ran and she wanted to walk the last lap!

The 800m. There was a false start and on the second start Kate got boxed in and had to work to get a better spot. She also had a cramp.
