Dinning with Dad

Today was dining with Dads as part of Catholic School's week. I helped set up and serve and took a picture of John and the kids. They were so excited to eat with their dad. Afterward, he took them to the book fair and they each got to pick out a book.

Catholic School's Week

We kicked off Catholic School's week with a program about the history of Catholic schools in Arkansas put on by a group of priests and nuns (first and second graders). There was singing, dancing and commentary. All the second graders had a speaking part. I went to the dress rehearsal on Friday and today they performed at the open house after mass.

Burritos

I remember these cheese melted burritos growing up and eating dinner at the Sordelet's house. I finally made them tonight and I had to text a picture to my Aunt. They brought back memories! All the kids ate them for dinner which is a plus. Will have to make again for sure.

Ice Skating

The kids have been begging to go ice skating. Downtown Bentonville puts up an ice skating rink part of the winter. We took them today. It was in the 60s and a beautiful day to spend outside. The girls like a book called Pink Around the Rink, where the girl learns to skate. On the way to the rink, I heard Elizabeth telling Anna and Kate, "You just step, step, glide..." (She was reciting the book). Anna started out a little rough, but eventually caught on with the training walkers. Jack used the walker for a bit, then stayed close to edge. Towards the end of the session, Elizabeth was brave enough to not use her walker, but she stayed close to the edge. They all were asking when they could come back, but it closes tomorrow.  Next year we will have to buy a family pass and take them more.

We grabbed lunch before going to the rink.
Ready to leave
The Rushings joined us. Amy did great.

Flashback...May 1996. Senior prom afterparty at the Glenbrook Mall. John and I did attempt to ice skate. Here we are almost 19 years later

Anna fell pretty quickly and John had to help her

I thought this is going to be a short session!. But she calmed down and ended up skating the rest of the time we were there

Jack eventually let go of the walker, but stayed close to the edges.

We pushed the kids around, too
