Jim Coleman Mine

Sarah and I took the kids to Jim Coleman Mine today. We were able to dig for quartz crystals for a little bit before we took a tour of the mine to see how and where they dig for the crystals. The kids found a ton of quartz--not a lot of quartz crystals, though. It was so hot that after about an hour, they were done digging and each of them had a bag of pretty rocks to take home.

On the tour, they took us into the museum to look at all the expensive rocks they sell.

A few years ago while they were digging, they hit a hot spring and the mine started filling up with water. They had to get a pump to pump it back out of the mine before they could continue to mine. That water is actually very deep!
