Tuesday: Rain...The National Archive Museum and The National Portrait Museum

Well, it rained today and it was considerably colder. We ubered to the National Archive Museum. The original Magna Carta, Declaration of Independence and Constitution were housed here, among other documents. The girls were not impressed-- the documents were very faded and hard to see. Jack loved it. We had a quick walk in the rain to the National Portrait Museum and walked around there a bit. Again, the girls were not loving looking at the art, and not touching everything. Plus they were tired from all the walking. We walked to lunch at Cosi, then walked back in the rain to the hotel for the afternoon. The kids swam again, too. Then we met Michael for dinner at Filomena's. It was very good Italian food. The kids were so excited to see Michael. Jack gave him a Challenge coin he bought at the Naval Academy on Sunday. The coin is given to someone when you shake their hand for a job well done. The tradition states that no one but the person that gives you the coin and yourself should touch it. Many military men and women have racks and cases to display them. Jack was very excited to give it to Uncle Mike. I couldn't take pictures inside the National Archive Museum.

The kids love the movie, The Greatest Show.

 Filomena's

Erin told us the entire first year at the Naval Academy the first year students had to run to class and every time they turn a corner yell, Go Navy Sir, Beat Army Sir. They also had to greet everyone they came across, Good Morning Sir, or Ma'am, Good Afternoon, etc. The girls got a kick out of the story.
