Trip to Vegas

We flew out of Houston on Friday morning. Sarah and Marie came with us for the weekend. The girls were running at the AAU West Coast Championships and we got to visit with Geemaw and Peepaw. The girls swam when we got there. We saw Gregory Popovich's Pet Theatre show on Friday afternoon and then went to play putt putt at Angel Park with Peepaw. I think Kate won. On saturday morning at sunrise, Sarah and I ran to Lone Mountain, then hiked to the top before running back home. It was beautiful at the top, but very narrow. I was nervous to stand up! Saturday morning we took the girls with Peepaw to Red Rock Canyon. The views were beautiful! Saturday night the girls ran the 4x800m relay and won (there was only one girl team in their age group!). Sunday morning they got up early to run the 3k. It was very hot and dry and they have not done much speed work this summer as they were building up miles. They did well! Anna won, Elizabeth was second (Anna outkicked her in the last 100) and Kate finished third. Kate had issues with her stomach and puked during and after the race. This race qualified them to AAU nationals in a few weeks. Then we ate some breakfast and headed to the airport to fly home. It was a great weekend.
