The girls have been going to this meet the last two years. It is a great atmosphere with a lot of competition around the region. We drove to Alabama on Thursday. Aunt Cindy met us there to cheer on the girls. The Beshears went with the Johnsons and Sam and her mom came too. All three ran the 3200m on Friday night. Kate was in heat 3 and ended up running very fast on the first lap-- a 5 minute mile pace and it made for not a great finish. She ran an 11:13.42, not a PR. Anna and Elizabeth were in the second fastest heat and both ran big PRs. Anna ran 10:38.73 (15 seconds) and Elizabeth ran 10:47.74 (10 seconds). The girls raced again on Saturday. Elizabeth wanted to try the steeplechase and she ended up winning it with a time of 7:18.54. Kate ran the mile with a new PR of 5:02.00 and 1600m of 5:00.31. Anna also had a great race running a mile time of 4:52.01 and 1600m time of 4:50.37. We drove back on Sunday. It was a great weekend and nice way to end the season for Anna and Elizabeth.
