Thanksgiving Week: Wednesday Cookie Decorating

This was Grandmom's idea. She made 12 dozen sugar cookies and wanted all the kids to decorate them. Well, it sounded like fun...it was, don't get me wrong, but there were a lot of two year-olds all attempting to decorate. She bought each of the kids an apron for the event and tons of sprinkles and candy to decorate them. The older kids did a few before they tired out and wanted to go and play. The 2009 group of little girls pretty much ate the decorations, licked the icing and ate the cookies. We didn't save too many cookies from that end of the table! This was like heaven to the girls. Afterwards, everyone got a bath.  Boy did they have fun decorating!  Interestingly enough, the younger kids actually enjoyed it more and lasted longer than the older kids!  Thanks Grandmom for making all the cookies and letting the kids decorate them.

Aunt Sarah made sure everyone used hand sanitizer before we started.

The girls never grasped the concept: Decorate the cookies, don't eat them.

Love that these five girls are all within three months of each other in age.

Look at Elizabeth's reach! Marie dumped out the entire container of candy.

Grandmom worked hard to do this for the kids and they had a blast!

We started leaving the lids on the candy containers.

Priceless face. Towards the end of the decorating, I think Elizabeth maxed out on cookies. She handed me this tiny piece of cookie that was smeared with icing, probably licked and sticky and told me she was "all done". Not many cookies made it to the plate from this end of the table.
