AAU Nationals

We drove to Des Moines after the golf match and got there at 11:45 pm. The girls had to run the 4x800m relay the next morning early, so we went straight to bed. They ran the first heat of the relay and won it with a time of 10:07.47. Elizabeth started off with a 2:31.05, Hattie ran a 2:34, Kate ran a 2:32.33, and Anna ran a 2:29.44. They ended up finished 4th overall and were All Americans. It was fun to walk onto the awards stand. The next day, they ran the 3k. Kate was the fastest seed in the first heat. The announcer for the race once again loved the fact she was a triplet like last year. Kate ran well and hit her goal of finishing under 11 minutes (10:55.56). She won her heat. Anna and Elizabeth ran in the next heat and after seeing how well Kate ran, they were ready. They made their way up from the back of the back to the middle by keeping their paces steady. Anna ended up in 9th place with 800m to go and she started kicking. She passed 8th place on the last 100m. Elizabeth kept up with her and finished 10th. Anna was All American in the 3k. Her time was 10:49.21 and Elizabeth was 10:55.45. Kate ended up in 11th place overall. We watched Hattie and Lilly Beshears run, then we headed home.
