My Kids Never Do This

My kids never do this, but yesterday, Kate fell asleep while in the highchair. My brother's kids do this all the time and I am always wondering how they actually fall asleep while eating. We have been struggling with the stomach flu this past week and it hit Kate the hardest. Yesterday, I took her to see our new pediatrician, Dr. Jim because she seemed to be having such a hard time getting over it. The good news is, she is fine and on the mend. She is eating better and back to drinking milk. Anna has somehow dodged this illness and Elizabeth had it first, but she only had the diarrhea with very little vomiting. We loved Dr. Jim and the office was great. John actually saw Dr. Jim's dad (also a pediatrician) as a child :)

Kate weighed 14 lbs in the office today. Hopefully, tomorrow when we go to see him for their 15 month check up she will have regained some of the weight she lost from this illness.

Also, I wanted to post some of John's predictions of the girls that I thought were cute.

Anna: The leader. She is in charge and shows the other girls this by pushing and grabbing the toys she wants.

Elizabeth: The dramatic one. She is the smallest and knows it, so she lets everyone know she is there with her high pitched scream and her constant talking.

Kate: The smart one. She is so laid back and takes everything in. She sometimes looks at her sisters like, "Why are you getting so upset over something this small."

I have to add that Anna is such a mama's girl. She always wants to be held and wants me near. When I go to leave the "jail" she is full of tears. She also is my snuggler. If I am holding her and one of her sisters crawls up to be held, she lets out a little wail and will try to push them away.  I think Elizabeth is very smart. She looks around and seems to understand so much. Lately, she will take my hand and flip it over to hand me something. Kate is such a good baby, she makes the cutest little noises all the time while she is trying to show me something. She also likes to point to things, except that she uses her whole hand. Kate and Elizabeth have been playing together a lot lately. They will chase each other and laugh. They sometimes do this with toys. Elizabeth will have one and Kate will try to get it from her and Elizabeth will crawl away laughing.

Good-Bye Dr. Browns

Good-bye Dr. Browns! After making between 10 and 20 bottles a day for the last 15 months, (what is that, like 7,000 bottles?) the girls have moved to sippie cups as of today...I will NOT miss hand-washing them every night, nor preparing them everyday...

They do pretty well with the cups. They still mostly lie down to take them, but Kate and Anna are really good at sitting up and tipping their heads back with the cups. I have to keep my eye on Kate though, because she likes to finish her cup and then steal one of her sisters, namely Elizabeth. And speaking of that little stinker, Elizabeth has decided not to eat anymore. My children has always been such wonderful eaters I am at a loss. I am wondering if it is a texture thing because she spits out almost all chunks of food. The frustrating part is she eats something one day and not the next. I have gone back to feeding her baby food or yogurt at every meal so I know she ate something. The other two have slowed down with their intake of food, and have become more picky, but they are still eating pretty well. What is the rule, it can take a child up to 15 times of exposure to a food before they will eat it? I guess I have to keep trying!

Anna is Walking!

Today, Anna really started walking all over. She has been taking a few steps here and there, but it was like something clicked today. She is still really slow, but when she loses her balance and falls, she gets right back up and again to walk more. She still crawls though, too.

Weekend Pictures

This weekend we were able to spend some time with the Frazier girls and Mimi and Papa who were baby-sitting for them. I took a few pictures on Saturday and Sunday.

These little girls have really learned to hold their own. I caught Anna pushing Elizabeth down (they know to go for each other's faces) after Elizabeth took her toy.

New Shoes (Sort of) and Hair Dos

Today, my mom helped me put the girl's hair up in bows. Poor Kate, she really doesn't have much hair...like me at her age. But, we tried :)

I also put on their Robeez shoes that were given to them last year from their Aunt Cindy. Their feet were so small, they never fit last winter, and even though they are 0-6 month size, they fit great this year! I am so glad, the shoes are so cute on them!

Speaking of size, I had to measure their heads yesterday and so I tried to get a measurement of their lengths as well, since I have not done that in a while. Kate and Elizabeth were about 27 inches and Anna was 27.25 inches. Anna and Elizabeth had head circumferences of 17.75 inches and Kate's was 17.5 inches. They go to see their new pediatrician in two weeks for their 15 month check so we will know all their stats then. Jack, of course wanted measured too and he was 40.5 inches.

Jack has been enjoying the cooler weather outside lately. It seems once the girls go down for their afternoon nap (and they are napping less and less in the morning now!), Jack will go outside with Granddad or me. Today, Granddad was blowing leaves and he made two really big piles for Jack to jump in. They were both taller than Jack! So, Jack ran to the pile, like I told him to, and...stepped in the pile. I tried to get him to belly flop, but he must be more like his mama and chose NOT to jump in the pile like a wild man.

Tonight, I had my mom to help with the girls' baths after dinner and since they were antsy waiting their turn, we put them all in the sink at once. It was funny to see them look at each other and laugh and splash together. Hopefully, it won't be long before they are all splashing together in the big tub!

Trick-or-Treating

Tonight we went trick-or-treating with the Szczepanski family. It was the first time trick-or-treating with the girls. They stayed back in the wagon, not having a clue what was going on, but Jack went up to every house with their pumpkins saying, "We have three little pigs we need candy for too." Needless-to-say, we ended up with quite a bit of candy this year.

After about an hour, Jack was tired and asked to ride in the wagon and, "skip this house". We ended up pulling the kids back to the car.
