Squirrel Cook-Out

We went to check out the squirrel cook-out downtown on the square. First we checked out the farmer's market and the girls loved holding the baby chicks and "milking" a cow. The squirrel cook-off is held each year right off the square. One of our neighbors was a contestant this year, so we went to see him, but he didn't have any samples left. We watched a few more contestants and the kids said they wanted to try something, so they did. I'm not even sure what they had. I do know there was 70% squirrel meat in it though.

TV crews. This is usually on the Food network.

"tastes like chicken" sign. I'm not so sure. Check out the overalls

Jack tried it too. John and I did not...

Junque to Jewels

Triplet mom's night out. This time we went to a place to be creative and artistic...which I am not! Anyway, it was fun and the real artists were very helpful. The kids were impressed with my pumpkin the next day. Jack asked me if I was Picasso this morning. When I picked him up from school, he asked me if I was the "best artist in the world."

No, buddy, but thanks for making me smile.

Holy Laundry

Well, I find this at the bottom of my washer about once a week. I don't think about Jack keeping it in his pocket everyday, because it is something I don't remind him to do and I never really know he uses it until I wash it. Every time I see it, I think of his God father, Uncle Mike, and how much this first Communion gift really means to Jack and it makes me smile a little. I love the person he is growing into.

TNT Dress down day

After numerous outfits and mind-changing by all the girls, they decided to match going to school on the first dress down day of the year. However, this outfit was a different pick from the one they had laid out the night before where Elizabeth and Kate were wearing their soccer jerseys and Anna picked out a dress. Then they decided they wanted to wear black and white since the kindergarten was having black and white day. Not sure why, since they are not kindergartners...anyway, I have to say that I am glad they wear a uniform so we don't have to go through this everyday.

Jack was careful to pick out his outfit too, he wanted to make sure the shorts were long enough (they are being really picky with the uniform code this year--three strikes and they are sent to a detention before school. And the kids are getting strikes for having shirts untucked, not wearing socks that cover their ankles, or not wearing white-only socks. Jack got a warning the second day of school for wearing a white sock with a little green by the ankle. Jack has told me there are kids in his class already in detentions). He also wanted me to help him match correctly.

"Labor" Day

We had a fun "Labor" day weekend. We did some fun stuff, but we got some deep cleaning done too. John cleaned the carpets and both cars on Sunday. The girls cleaned all the kitchen chairs and table. I cleaned under all the beds (wow, there was a ton of stuff under the kids' beds), rearranged the girls' bedroom, hung up some nightlight flowers from Aunt Sarah and cleaned out all the kids' junk drawers and clutter on their dressers. I ended up with a few boxes of things to donate. I love to declutter!

Aside from laboring, we also swam in the pool quite a bit (we are closing the pool this next week), had some homemade strawberry daiquiris (John's making), got a slush downtown Bentonville, John and Jack played golf (twice) and went to our neighbor's house to watch the opening game of the Razorbacks. Plus, the kids were back and forth all weekend with the neighbor kids.

Carter is such a good doggie

Dance and gymnastics

Well, this is a first for the Scudder girls. Elizabeth decided not to do ballet this year while Anna and Kate are. On Thursdays, Elizabeth will take an extra gymnastics class. All the girls are on the pre-team at the gym, but Kate and Anna only go Mondays for an hour and a half, while Elizabeth will go three hours a week.

Extra Pictures

Here are some pictures I took over the last week. The kids have been picking out their Halloween costumes--and the girls' will serve double purposes (but shhh, they don't know about the Disney trip yet!). Jack decided to be a teenage mutant ninja turtle and his costume has been ordered as well.

Anna as Rapunzel--she will have to decide which one she will be. All of them except the Aurora, we got from another mom with triplets!
