We left from Dallas on a direct flight at 7pm. Because of the time change, we arrived in Rome the next day around 11:30. We slept a little on the plane. When we got to our apartment, we dropped our bags while they were finishing cleaning it and walked around the area a little. We walked to the Spanish Steps that were so close to where we were staying and found a little park that we thought we could run the next day. We got a pizza. We found a little mini mart and got a few groceries. We went back to the apartment and got ready for church. We walked to St. John Lateran Basilica but we stopped at St. Mary's Major Basilica. We all went to confession. Then we went to the the Holy steps. These steps were the same ones that Jesus walked up to see Pontius Pilate before he was crucified. They were moved to this spot. We waited in line for about 30 minutes and then we crawled up them on our knees. We went over the St. John, but we were late! The website said the mass was at 6pm and it was half-way over when we got there! After mass, we got dinner. The bread was our favorite and the lasagna. Kate got a pizza that was also very good.
