Smiles for Sophie

This morning we walked in the Smiles For Sophie one mile walk. It is fundraiser for children with brain cancer. Sophie is a child that passed away from a brain tumor five years ago. Her parents and sisters live in Avon Lake. They put on this walk for their foundation to help other families with children diagnosed with brain tumors. The walk started at the park behind our house and basically you walked to this family's house and turned around. There was also a 5K race. Everyone was given carnation flowers to put on their lawn. It was a very nice walk, although very hot at 9 in the morning. After the race there were apples, bananas, bagels, smoothies and cupcakes. Sophie's birthday is today. She would have been 9. It was a nice way to spend the morning.

This afternoon, Erin, Sarah and I took the girls back to the Avon Lake pool. It was more crowded than yesterday, but we survived by each taking one of the girls to look after. Anna was loving the slide today and went down more than the other two--probably because Elizabeth and Kate must have went down it 25 times yesterday. It was a great day for the pool--mid 90s.
